Amity vs Parul: which online MBA actually fits you?

Amity sells external validation — international accreditors and programmes run with professional bodies; Parul sells access — a lower entry price and a specialisation list that reaches into sectors most online MBAs ignore.

Both of these are UGC-DEB entitled and AICTE approved, which settles the only question with a clean yes-or-no answer. Either degree is a valid postgraduate qualification, either one keeps a PhD open to you afterwards, and neither is a diploma dressed up as a masters. Once that is out of the way, the two universities turn out to have made almost opposite bets about what an online MBA is for.

Amity Online, out of Noida, has built its catalogue around things outside itself: accreditation bodies in the United States and the United Kingdom, professional bodies attached to individual programmes, and faculty drawn from beyond India. Parul University's distance and online centre, in Vadodara, has built its around reach — a lower price, a far longer list of specialisations, and financing routes aimed at people who cannot put a large sum down at the start. You are choosing between a signal and a menu, and which one is worth more depends entirely on the job you are trying to get.

What the Accreditation Lines Actually Say

Read these two lines carefully, because they are not the same claim. Parul holds a NAAC A+ grade awarded to the university. Amity's grade in our university data is recorded as A+ but tagged to QS rather than to NAAC, so we do not call it a NAAC grade anywhere on this site — the workbook we were given does not say that, and we are not going to say it for them. If a NAAC grade specifically matters to your employer or to a promotion board, ask each admissions office to put their current grade and its awarding body in writing.

On rankings the gap is clearer. Amity carries a NIRF rank. Parul appears in the NIRF listing as an emerging university without a rank attached, which is not a failure so much as a stage. International recognition is where the two separate most sharply: Amity's record lists accreditation and recognition through a US regional accreditor, a UK quality body, a UK professional accounting body and QS, while Parul's record lists UGC-DEB approval and nothing beyond it. If there is any chance you will need the degree evaluated overseas, that difference is the most consequential thing on this page.

What the Fee Difference Is Actually Buying

Amity is the more expensive of the two, and the fee table on this page has the current figures. What that premium corresponds to, on the evidence we have, is the external apparatus: the international accreditations above, an AI-driven learning platform with live sessions, a faculty mix that includes practitioners and academics from the US, UK and Singapore, a scheduled campus connect, and a larger network of hiring partners.

Parul's lower fee does not buy a stripped-down experience. Its platform runs live and recorded sessions with a mobile app and online proctored exams, which covers what a working professional actually needs from an online programme. Its own summary also lists a pay-after-placement option, which is unusual at this level and potentially decisive if cash flow is your constraint — but it is a headline in a summary field, not a documented scheme, so treat it as a question to ask a counsellor rather than a promise already made to you.

Breadth Versus Attachment in the Specialisation Lists

Parul carries by far the wider MBA catalogue of the two, and the interesting part is not its length but its edges. Alongside the usual finance, marketing, HR and operations, it lists agribusiness management, forensic accounting and corporate fraud investigation, pharmaceutical management, public policy, family managed business, tourism and event management, and retail. If you work in one of those sectors, this is the rare online MBA that will let you study it directly instead of doing a general MBA and hoping the sector knowledge follows.

Amity's list is shorter, and each entry tends to have something bolted to it. Construction project management runs in association with RICS, international finance with ACCA, hospital and healthcare management with a medical education partner including an assured observership arrangement. There is a dual specialisation route, plus data science, business analytics, digital marketing and general management. In a licensed or credential-heavy field, that external attachment is worth something concrete beyond the MBA itself — in a field where nobody checks for it, it is worth nothing extra.

Career Support and How Employers Read Each Name

Both universities offer placement assistance rather than placement. Amity lists a hiring partner network with placement assistance and mentoring; Parul lists placement assistance, an industry partner network and career workshops. Neither is a job guarantee, and any counsellor who implies otherwise should be asked to write the promise down and sign it.

Where our data does separate them is uncomfortable, and we would rather print it than bury it. Amity's private sector recognition and alumni feedback are both recorded as excellent, with career progression rated good. Parul's private sector recognition is recorded as poor, with alumni feedback and career progression both average. Those are qualitative assessments in a university master sheet, not measured outcomes from a survey, so treat them as directional rather than final. But if the main thing you want from an MBA is a name that moves recruiters, that line is the one to weigh, and it points one way.

Scholarships, EMI and Getting In

Scholarships are Amity's strongest practical argument, and they can close a fee gap that looks unbridgeable on the table. Its categories cover merit, defence personnel, students with disabilities, a sports category, alumni, a scholarship test route, an early-bird window, and discounts for paying a full year or the full fee up front. No-cost EMI sits on top. If you fall into any of those groups, the price you actually pay may be well below the listed one, so do this arithmetic before deciding the premium is out of reach.

Parul offers merit-based scholarships and early-bird discounts, with categories spanning sports, defence, cultural achievement, alumni and need-based financial aid, and EMI arranged through partner banks. The need-based route is the one Amity's list does not match, and for some readers it is the only route that matters. Admission at both is on merit with no entrance exam, and both run January and July intakes — so if a specific start date matters, work backwards from the window rather than from the day you happen to be reading this.

Amity Online

Choose Amity if…

  • You may work abroad, or need the degree evaluated by a foreign employer or university, and want recognition beyond UGC-DEB on the certificate.
  • Your target specialisation benefits from a professional body attached to it, such as construction project management or international finance.
  • You fall into one of the scholarship categories or can pay annually — the effective fee drops furthest here.
  • The employer recognition attached to the name is the main thing you are paying for.

Parul University

Choose Parul if…

  • Your sector is one Parul actually teaches — agribusiness, pharmaceutical, forensic accounting, public policy, tourism — and a general MBA would not cover it.
  • The fee is the binding constraint, and a lower sticker price beats a discount you have to qualify for.
  • You need a need-based aid route rather than a merit or category-based one.
  • You want a manageable academic load alongside your job; the programme is rated the less demanding of the two.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. Parul's online programmes are UGC-DEB entitled and AICTE approved, and the masters makes you eligible to apply for a PhD afterwards. A UGC-DEB entitled online degree carries the same statutory standing as the on-campus version of the same degree, so the delivery mode does not weaken it in law.
