Amity vs LPU: which online MBA actually fits you?

Amity sells international partnerships and the widest scholarship menu in our catalogue; LPU sells a NAAC A++ grade and a management-specific NIRF ranking at a lower, flat fee.

Amity University Online and LPU Online are both large, UGC-DEB entitled, AICTE approved universities running an online MBA on the same January and July calendar, with no entrance exam in either case. From an ad they look interchangeable. Read their university records side by side and they stop looking it, because they are selling genuinely different things.

Amity's case rests on external partnerships, professional-body linked specialisations and a scholarship menu wider than any other university we carry. LPU's case rests on academic signal and price: a NAAC A++ grade, a NIRF placing inside the management category, and a single fee that does not move when you change specialisation. Which suits you depends on whether you are buying a credential with another institution's name attached, or the strongest domestic accreditation for the smaller cheque.

The short version

  • LPU has the lower entry price: its cheapest MBA in our catalog is ₹2,00,000, against ₹2,25,000 at Amity.
  • LPU holds the higher NAAC grade (A++ (NAAC) vs A+ (QS Ranked)).
  • Amity ranks higher in NIRF for management (#48 against #62 (Universities); #32 (Management)).
  • LPU gives you more to choose from — 10 MBA specializations in our catalog against 8 at Amity.
  • Amity publishes 8 scholarship categories to LPU's 6.
  • On placements the universities report Amity: ₹4–7 LPA average, LPU: ₹7–8 LPA average.

Every line above is computed from the fee, accreditation and placement figures in the table below — we don't rank universities on anything we can't show you.

Recognition and Accreditation, Read Carefully

Both universities are UGC-DEB entitled and AICTE approved. That settles what most applicants worry about first: the degree is valid for government recruitment and further study, and both records confirm PhD eligibility after the masters. This baseline is not a differentiator, and any counsellor who presents it as one is padding.

Above the baseline the two diverge sharply. LPU holds a NAAC A++ grade, the top band NAAC awards, and appears in NIRF on the universities list as well as separately within the management category. For an MBA applicant, the management placing is the more relevant of the two, because it is scored on the discipline you are actually enrolling in. Amity's record lists an A+ grade, but qualifies it as QS-ranked rather than NAAC, so it is not a like-for-like comparison with LPU's NAAC band and we do not present it as one. Amity ranks higher than LPU on NIRF's general universities list.

Where Amity clearly leads is international recognition. Its record names quality and accreditation bodies in the United States and the United Kingdom alongside a global professional accountancy body. LPU's international recognition rests on QS, NBA and a WURI placing. If your plan involves working or studying outside India, Amity's paperwork is the easier one to explain to a foreign employer or admissions office.

What Drives the Fee Gap

LPU prices its online MBA as one figure across every specialisation, so choosing data science over marketing costs you nothing extra. Amity prices in a band: general management sits at the bottom of it, and the partnered specialisations sit well above. Every LPU specialisation is cheaper than even Amity's entry point. The exact figures are in the fee table on this page, which reads live from the catalogue.

The gap is not arbitrary, and worth understanding before you treat it as a straight saving. Amity's costlier programmes are the ones carrying a partner: a chartered surveying institution on construction project management, a global accountancy body on international finance, a medical education provider with an observership attachment on hospital and healthcare management. You are paying for a second name attached to your specialisation. Whether that name is worth the premium depends entirely on whether the people who will hire or promote you recognise it.

Specialisation Mix: Partnered Credentials or Core Functions

Amity's list is deliberately unusual. Beyond general management and a dual-specialisation option, it runs construction project management, international finance, hospital and healthcare management, data science, business analytics and digital marketing. Several of these do not exist anywhere else in our catalogue, which is genuinely useful if your industry is one of them and close to irrelevant if it is not.

LPU's list is conventional and covers more of the standard management functions. Finance, marketing, operations, human resource management, logistics and supply chain, banking and financial services, hospital and healthcare management, business analytics, data science and digital marketing all appear. Notably, our catalogue does not list a dedicated HR specialisation for Amity, so if HR is the function you want on your degree, LPU is the one carrying it. If you want construction project management, only Amity has it.

Placement Support and What Follows the Degree

Both universities run substantial placement operations. LPU's record describes a large hiring-partner network, alumni mentoring and career fairs; Amity's describes a comparable partner network with placement assistance and mentoring. Both rate private-sector recognition and alumni feedback at the top of the scale, and both describe career progression as good rather than exceptional.

On reported salary outcomes the records differ, and the table above shows both: LPU reports a higher average band and a much higher top end. Read those bands sceptically: they are self-reported, they usually cover full-time cohorts as well as online ones, and a working professional adding an MBA to an existing job is not the person they describe. Treat them as a signal of employer reach, not a forecast of your salary.

Scholarships, EMI and What You Actually Pay

This is the section that can invert the fee comparison, so do not skip it. Amity carries the widest scholarship structure in our catalogue: merit, defence personnel, Divyaang, a sports category, an alumni route, a scholarship test, and separate discounts for paying the full or annual fee upfront. If you qualify under more than one heading, the effective cost can land a good deal closer to LPU's than the sticker prices suggest.

LPU's scholarship set is narrower but still broad: merit, defence and paramilitary, sports, alumni, corporate employee benefits, and an award tied to its own entrance test — a scholarship route, not an admission requirement. Both offer interest-free EMI, described as no-cost at Amity and zero-cost at LPU. Get the post-scholarship, post-EMI number from each university in writing before you compare, because the published fee is the number neither of them will actually charge you.

Study Load, Exams and Fitting It Around a Job

Both are built for people in full-time work: recorded lectures, live sessions and online examinations, with a campus connect component at each. Amity's platform is described as an AI-driven immersive LMS; LPU runs its own LMS with a mobile app and online exams.

The records rate the academic load differently. LPU's programme is graded as slightly difficult, Amity's as moderately difficult. That gap is small but real, and worth weighing against your actual working hours rather than the ones you hope to free up. An MBA you finish beats a marginally more prestigious one you abandon in the second year.

Amity Online

Choose Amity if…

  • Your specialisation is one only Amity carries — construction project management, or an international finance track linked to a global accountancy body.
  • You qualify under more than one scholarship heading; Amity's menu is the widest here and can reshape what you actually pay.
  • You may work or study abroad and want a record naming US and UK quality bodies.
  • A partner institution's name on the specialisation carries weight in your industry.

Lovely Professional University (LPU)

Choose LPU if…

  • You want the strongest domestic academic signal available: a NAAC A++ grade plus a NIRF placing inside the management category.
  • You want fee certainty — one price across every specialisation, with no premium for the one you actually need.
  • HR, logistics and supply chain, or banking and financial services is your target function.
  • You would rather put the fee difference into an emergency fund than into an international label you may never use.

Frequently asked questions

Yes for both. Each is UGC-DEB entitled and AICTE approved, which is the recognition government recruiters and further-study admissions check. An online degree from a UGC-DEB entitled university carries the same standing as its on-campus equivalent, and both records confirm you stay eligible to pursue a PhD afterwards.
